Özgür Abbak; 1976 yıında Ankara’ da doğdu. İlk, orta ve lise eğitimini Ankara’ da tamamladı. İlk olarak davul ile başlayan enstrüman seçimi ileri ki zamanlarda gitara yerini bıraktı. Gitar gelişimini kitap, kaset, transcript ve metodlardan kendine özgü bir biçimde sürdürdü.

                          Özgür Abbak was born in Ankara in 1976. He completed his primary school and high school education in Ankara. Firstly, his instrument choice was drum but then, he preferred working on electric guitar. He maintained guitar education by the help of books, tapes, transcripts and methods. In his high school years, he started a pop-rock band, he performed in some concerts and took part in a music competition among high schools as a guitarist of the band.

                       In that years, he was interested in blues and he started his first professional band “Pimple”. He performed many concerts with his band “Pimple” and performed in pubs. Also, he performed many concerts with Larry O’neill who is an American blues&jazz soloist and Abbak joined may jam-session. He studied comprehensively for guitar types, different playing styles and technique.

In 1994, He became first in Ankara then in Turkiye in a music competition “en iyi genç elektro guitarist” (the best young electric guitarist) organized by a music store. Its jury was Mark Cooper and its presenter was Asım Can Gündüz. The competition was shown in TRT. After that, he became an electric guitar teacher in a private education center and trained many young people.

Abbak’s peak point was meeting Erkan Oğur who is master of music. He worked on kopuz, cümbüş, Oğur sazı and fretless guitar.

In 1998, he started to study music department of fine arts in Abant İzzet Baysal University. During his four year university life, he made arrangements for classical guitars and he adapted classical musical pieces into electric guitar. He performed many classical guitar concerts during his university years. For his graduation recital, he performed “concierto de aranjuez” which is known as guitar concerto of Rodrigo.

In 2003, he worked in Bolu fine arts high school as a classical guitar teacher for a year.

In 2004, he did compulsory military service. Then, he continued his studies for stage and studio.

In 2005, he made an album named “DEM” with Tarkan Ergün.

In 2009, he performed with “FMY Project” created by 5 different musicians who are come from different countries and “FMY Project” represented rock, electric fusion, jazz and ethnic music.

In 2010, he composed a modern dance music named “flu”.

Every year, Abbak performed successful concerts for “Emrahan Halıcı ve Ankara Muzisyenleri” activities in Middle East Technical University’s art festivals.

Abbak started to work with Mısırlı Ahmet because of his interest in ethnic jazz. For “HindIstanbul” project, he performed, firstly, Aya Irini and many other towns in Turkey. He shared the same stage with many different famous people; Zakir Hüseyin, Niladri Kumar, Nevyeli S. Radhakrishna, Ganesh Rajagopalan and Osam Ezzeldin.

He joined as a guest musician in OSTURA 2016 album, which is worked by one of the famous musicians who is Thomas Lang. In progressive rock music world, he represented Turkish music sounds by playing fretless guitar and using his own style.

He still continues performing in concert and working on stage and studio, TV programmes. He makes arrangements in music styles and he continues as a director of music and music producer…
